The Story of Grandpa's Barn

The Story of Grandpa's Barn
-Clyde and Katie Kelly-

The last of our grandfathers passed away in February of this year. Strong ties to agriculture and to extended family figured heavily in all of their upbringing. Three of them later chose to make their living and raise their families on farms of their own. They were exemplary men, unsung heroes, whose contributions and character we want to remember and pass on to our own grandchildren.

Grandpa's Barn is a memorial to them. It is modeled after barns on the upstate New York dairy that was owned by Clyde's grandfather, and built on the soil of the San Joaquin Valley farmed by both Katie's grandfathers.

It is dedicated generally to the grandfathers of our community whose perseverance, hard work, and devotion to their families and to God have held our society together and have tied us to our land. It is dedicated specifically to our own grandfathers who have exemplified these qualities:

John Peter DeVincenzo ----- Shafter, CA
Arthur M. Kelly ----- Woodstock, NY
James A. Lauchland ----- Lodi, CA
Walter H.G. Vogel ----- Rhinebeck, NY
